Describe the language used is it formal/informal is it clear or open to our interpretation?

The language is informal the majority of the time but has it hints of formal language "insatiable". This is informal because it is meant to appeal to teenagers, which it does if you look at the ratings in previous blogs. The synopsis is very clear and detailed so you know excatly what the film is about.

The DVD cover give a horror/ bloody feel this is helped by the colour used on the cover.

Reviews Of Sorority Row

2.I give this film 7 out of 10. I feel giving a movie of this style a poor review is cutting it short for the credit it should get. It is well shot, the death sequences are well put together and inventive, there are the comical moments, characters you hate and can't wait to meet there makers and the who is the murderer guessing game.
Don't get me wrong the film is not special, it's no Oscar nominee and has so many plot holes it is swiss cheese but what you do get is a fun slasher flick that won't let you down as long as you don't expect too much from it.

From the review above I can see that some people like re-make of a film but at the same time dont like the same thing and like an extra twist within a film. They also like a good killer with intresting ways of dying not your same old stab in the chest or cutting of the head.

Reviews Of Jennifers Body

3.First of all let me say that I love this movie. Yes I used the word "love". I love the actors, I love the location, I love the look of the film, and I love Diablo Cody. I can understand all the people who don't like Diablo Cody's writing because she uses "hip" language and things like that, but that is in fact why I love it! For the film nerds out there, No, I did not go to film school. I like many different types of movies. I like all the same movies you like, and then probably a lot you don't. But the difference between you and me is that I can appreciate a movie for what it is.
This is an over-dramatic review but to be honest the majority of them were saying that they liked the film and were impressed with the script-wrtiers work. They commented on her "hip" use of language and enjoyed the film as a whole.

Blog 4 - Analysis of Opening Sequences

Jennifer's body
The first 15 minutes of watching this film we learn that the protagonist (Needy) turns insane but before that she was best friends with the antagonist (Jennifer). The settings we see are dark and prisons. The langauge used is informal because its full of american teenagers. They build up suspense by changes in music.

Sorority Row
The first 15 minutes we watched it starts off all dark and slowly moves towards the house, just to find out it a party full of sorority and frat people. The settings keep changing from dark to bright. Again in this film the langauge is informal. The protagonist in the film is Cassidy the sensible one of the sorority girls and the antagonist is Chelsea the selfish one of the sorority group.

Blog 3 - Institutional Contexts

Jennifers Body
The age rating for this film is 15 years old+, the company that made the film was Fox and there estimated opening budget was $16,000,000. The good thing about this film is that it made alot of money within the first weekend of coming out. A reason this probablly made more money then Sorority row did is because this film was a 15+ instead of 18+ meaning more people were able to see it.
Opening Weekend:
$6,868,397 (USA) 20 September2009(2,702 Screens)
£736,535 (UK) (314 Screens)

Sorority Row
Again in Soroity Row the age rating for this film is 18+, the company which made the film was Karz Entertainment and there estimated opening budget was $16,000,000 same as Jeniffers Body. The good thing about the film considering it had alot less viewers was how much it made on its opening weekend.
